Job overview

We are looking for permanent Staff Nurses or Midwives who are keen, enthusiastic, and highly motivated to join our friendly neonatal team. We have wonderful facilities in a purpose-built unit, including excellent family accommodation. You will need to be a qualified RN/RM/RSCN; previous experience of working in this field is not essential. You will be joining a team that works shifts, including internal rotation to night duty, weekends, and bank holidays. You must have compassion and be able to demonstrate flexible thinking as well as the ability to prioritize a demanding workload. You will need to work with the multidisciplinary team with motivation to strive for excellence in practice. Main duties of the job

To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care. To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty. To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilization of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group. To work closely with the nurse in charge and other members of the multidisciplinary team. To help drive forward evidence-based practice in line with national guidance to enhance the care we deliver to these vulnerable infants and their families. To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Working for our organisation

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales. We are a Level 2 neonatal unit caring for approximately 500 babies per year, providing intensive care, high dependency care, and special care. We are part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network and have strong links with the other Units in the region. We embrace family-centered care, involving parents in all aspects of care and are proud of the services we deliver. We are able to offer training and support to care for neonates and their families. We have a robust 4-week induction and a supportive training program to help you settle into the environment. We actively promote professional development; there is an expectation to undertake and pass the Foundation Course in Neonatal Care and Neonatal Intensive Care course with a rotation to a level three neonatal unit to enhance exposure to neonatal patients. Please note, there will be a drug calculation test for the successful applicants once started in post.
