An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 5 staff nurse to join our friendly Paediatric Accident & Emergency department at Ormskirk Hospital. The Paediatric Accident & Emergency department has been rated good by CQC. The Department has undergone recent redesign and refurbishment and prides itself on providing excellent family centred care to children and their families in the local area. We are looking for an enthusiastic Children's nurse, who is an excellent role model, self-motivated and committed to the delivery of high standards of quality care. Experience is preferred but not essential. If you are a Children's nurse, committed to providing high quality care and would like to develop your clinical skills, this position could be for you. The post is shift work, rotational to night duty and the ability to work as part of a team is essential. We work closely with our Paediatric Ward, Assessment Unit and Neonatal Unit and rotational posts within the department are available for staff to gain experience in all areas. Main duties of the job

Assess, plan develop and implement programmes of care to patients, providing advice in a variety of settings. Carry out nursing procedures in line with current NMC standards of proficiency. Ensure the health, wellbeing and independence of patients and service users across healthcare settings, maintaining associated records, ensuring all patients always receive safe and effective care. Supervision of junior staff and all learners. Always understand and demonstrate the Trust values. Job responsibilities

Qualifications

Registered Children's Nurse (RNC) with current NMC Registration Evidence of continuous professional development 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma) Knowledge & Experience

Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code Experience of working in a clinical environment Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information An understanding of national, regional, and local NHS issues Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation Skills and abilities

Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own workload Awareness of the need for confidentiality at all times Ability to de-escalate complex situations Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team. Computer literacy e.g. experience of electronic patient record Other

Frequent concentration required for drug calculation and Administration Ability to work within highly distressing or emotional circumstances e.g. end of life care. Frequent moderate effort for several short periods of time such as manual handling of patients and equipment. Dealing with frequent interruptions and competing demands Able to carry out direct clinical care as required on ward or department Ability to communicate in a challenging environment Ability to communicate distressing information Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
