Arden Ward is a busy male adult acute inpatient mental health ward based at Stepping Hill Hospital at Stockport. We are currently seeking to recruit a band 5 staff nurse on a permanent contract to complement the experienced staffing team that is already in place. You will be part of a thriving ward which is committed to providing a high level of quality care to the patients they work with. We offer a comprehensive preceptorship package to newly qualified nurses to support you in starting your nursing career as well as other mandatory and non-mandatory training to support and enhance your development and clinical skills. We follow a hybrid shift pattern which involves working two long days and two single shifts a week, giving staff three days off a week. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will rotate onto nights.
Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
You will be an integral part of the team providing direct care to patients with a variety of mental health problems. You will act as the named nurse with responsibility for the overall care of an identified group of clients and regularly act as shift coordinator ensuring the smooth running of the clinical area and best utilization of resources available, with support from senior staff.
Key Responsibilities of the Post: Provide a high level of safe and effective care. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines. Liaise with the multidisciplinary team. Provide mentorship to others.

Essential Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification
Knowledge
Essential The Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice. Legislation relating to discharge and aftercare. Care Planning and Management.
Desirable Clinical Risk Management.
Experience
Essential Experience of working within a mental health setting. Experience of working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team. Experience of admission and discharge processes. Experience of working within the framework of Care Planning Approach.
Desirable Previous experience of working on an acute Mental Health ward.
