Responsibilities:
Develop validation plans for IP and chip level test cases from datasheet and in consultation with design and systems engineers. Participate in chip design and architecture reviews and recommend Design-for-Validation (DFV) hooks to improve validation coverage. Design, develop, and debug silicon validation board-level hardware and bring-up the platforms prior to first silicon. Develop automated test framework and regression test suites in Python to optimize validation efficiency. Bench test and debug of embedded on-chip circuitry (amplifiers, data converters, power converters, etc.) to ensure functionality and performance as per the datasheet. Work with Validation and Production Test engineering peers to implement best practices and continuous improvements to Cirrus Logic backend test methodologies. Collaborate closely with Design, Systems, and Application Engineers to understand requirements and use cases. Analyze test results and identify failures/defects using business intelligence tools such as Spotfire, Excel and JMP. Write technical reports/summaries of all data collected. Required Skills and Qualifications:
BSc, MSc or MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with proven experience in an IC Validation or equivalent role. Advanced electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital, power electronics or audio engineering. This includes mixed-signal building blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, amplifiers, LDOs, SMPSs, signal processing and measurement, IC control/communication protocols. Hands-on experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers for measurement and debugging issues. Experienced in scripting languages, Python preferred, for test automation and data analysis. Able to handle engineering tasks, on an as-needed basis, combining experience in failure analysis, test development, system use cases, IP debug, and customer support. Ability to organize assignments and schedule time to drive deliverables within established timelines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others to solve routine problems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical & diagnostic skills. Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in various automation framework hardware tools (FPGA, DSP, NI Data Acquisition) or software tools/languages. Expertise in PCB design, layout with attention to signal integrity and thermal considerations. Mixed-signal test theory and knowledge (Nyquist theorem, oversampling, aliasing, etc.). Ability to think beyond the datasheet and around design corners to find elusive bugs. Able to think of test cases and customer usage model that may violate the assumptions of designers and systems engineers.
