Accountable for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including washing, disinfecting, and sterilising theatre equipment. Maintain supplies inventories and stock levels, keeping accurate records on our computer system. Conduct daily validation testing and recording. Monitor all procedures and report malfunctions of sterilisers and washer-disinfectors to the Sterile Services Manager. Participate in conducting planned audits, ensuring equipment is correctly labelled and documented. Focus on concentration during the decontamination and packing process, ensuring safety when dealing with contaminated sets. Requirements
The appointed Sterile Services Technician should have: A strong background in decontamination processes within a healthcare/surgical environment. Ability to exert moderate to high physical effort while unloading and loading trolleys into autoclaves and washer disinfectors. Effective communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal. Good degree of computer literacy. Preferably Hepatitis B and TB vaccinations, or willingness to undergo vaccination if not immunised. This is a permanent position (37.5 hpw) working Monday to Friday, with 2 Saturday shifts per month. Hours based on two shift patterns: Early - 07:00 - 15:00, Late - 11:00 - 19:00. Potential Bank Holiday working - but not routine.
