Stock Equipment Officer Function: Service Unit: Business Location: Exeter (R620), Exeter, United Kingdom The role of the Stock & Equipment Officer sits within the End User Workplace team on the Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police Managed ICT Contract. As an IT Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that police officers and staff can perform their duties without technical interruptions. In being detailed and organised, the officer will manage the inventory and logistics of IT hardware and associated peripherals for Devon & Cornwall and Dorset police forces. Responsible for tracking, maintaining, and ensuring the availability of IT assets, including computers, monitors, peripherals, and other technological tools. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining the operational efficiency of the IT department by ensuring all equipment is accounted for, properly stocked, and in good working order. By providing accuracy of stock flows with clear concise records, you directly contribute to the seamless operation of critical policing activities. Your work underpins the technology that powers essential services, ensuring operational effectiveness and public safety. To ensure that the Contract requirements for End User Workplace (Field) tower are met and all SLAs are met or exceeded delivering routine installation, change and support of the IT infrastructure. Interface directly with colleagues, customers and 3rd parties to implement changes of technical services in a 24x7x365 environment to deliver a high-quality service. Locations: Exeter or Dorset – You will be required to work onsite 5 days per week with travel to various sites. Key Responsibilities

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT hardware, software, and related equipment. Track and manage stock levels of IT assets, ensuring adequate supplies are available for the team and end users. Perform regular audits of IT equipment and ensure accurate records are maintained. Procurement and Stock Replenishment

Assist in the ordering and procurement of IT equipment, including laptops, desktops, servers, networking equipment, and accessories. Collaborate with your customer and their vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing. Monitor stock levels and initiate reordering when necessary to avoid shortages or excess inventory. Asset Tracking and Reporting

Maintain detailed records of all IT equipment, including serial numbers, purchase dates, warranty information, and location. Track the deployment and return of IT assets, ensuring they are properly logged and monitored. Prepare regular reports on inventory usage, trends, and forecasting. Equipment Allocation and Deployment

Manage the allocation and deployment of IT equipment to staff, ensuring all hardware and software needs are met for new hires, project teams, or replacements. Provide assistance with setting up and configuring new equipment for employees. Maintenance and Repair Coordination

Coordinate repairs, upgrades, or replacements of faulty or outdated equipment. Liaise with service providers for warranty claims, repairs, or technical support when required. Waste and Disposal Management

Ensure the safe disposal or recycling of obsolete or faulty IT equipment in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies. Technical Skills and Requirements

Proven experience in IT inventory management, asset tracking, or a similar role in an IT department. Familiarity with inventory management software or asset management tools is a plus. Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and basic networking concepts. Knowledge of client application installation and troubleshooting skills. Competent communication skills - interacting at various levels across the customer and the BT organisation. Competent analytical and creative skills. Competent organisational skills. 1 – 2 years’ experience in an IT equipment/stock coordination. Customer Service Skills

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with non-technical users. A customer-focused approach, ensuring end-users feel supported and informed. Personal Attributes

Highly self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills. A proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail. Comfortable working independently in a field-based role, often under time pressure. Other Requirements

Full, clean UK driving license and willingness to travel in Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset as required. Eligibility for police NPPV3 vetting and an understanding of confidentiality requirements. Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-oriented mindset.
