At Warwick District Council, we’re looking for a Strategic Director who is passionate about our community and excited about making a real difference. With our easily accessible central location, and Leamington Spa being rated the best place to live in the Midlands, it’s easy to see why businesses, residents, and visitors are drawn to our vibrant, diverse, and unique district. We are driven by a vision to ensure that Warwick District is a great place for everyone to live, work, and visit. We aim to improve lives and the environment, creating a welcoming and sustainable future for all. We are now seeking a forward-thinking Strategic Director who will bring innovation, transformation, and efficiency to the Council to help us achieve these goals. Our new Strategic Director will lead the delivery of our low-cost, low-carbon energy schemes. If appointed, you will take charge of the Council’s high-profile capital projects, including the Climate Change Programme, Biodiversity Action Programme, Town Centre Regeneration, Housing Development Programme, and Asset Management services, all aimed at meeting the needs of our diverse communities. While we are in a strong financial position, we’re committed to finding further efficiencies and exploring new income-generation opportunities, all while maintaining our social purpose to improve lives across the district. We’re looking for an experienced professional who can shape and deliver the future strategic direction of the Council and the district. You should have a proven track record in delivering capital projects, especially in low-cost, low-carbon housing, as well as transforming services and making efficiencies. Experience working with, or within, local government is essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships with Elected Members. At the heart of our organisation are our people. We value the benefits of new ways of working to enhance productivity, service delivery, and wellbeing. That’s why we offer a comprehensive employee benefits scheme and agile working options, to support work-life balance and personal growth. We are a small, but dynamic Council, with unique strengths, and we are committed to ensuring everyone can reach their potential. As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our elected members to ensure that Warwick continues to grow and thrive. Excited? So are we! If you’re innovative, forward-thinking, and ready to make a difference in a council that values diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, then we would love to hear from you. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the communities we serve. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in local government leadership.
