We are seeking an experienced, dynamic leader to join the County Durham Youth Justice Service in the role of Strategic Manager. This pivotal position offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people in County Durham, focusing on social inclusion, prevention of anti-social behaviour, and reducing youth offending.

As the Strategic Manager, you will be accountable for the effective strategic and operational management of the Youth Justice Service.

You will lead on the design and delivery of innovative programmes aimed at supporting young people and their families, particularly those with multiple and complex needs. You will also be responsible for partnership development and taking forward new areas of Government policy, ensuring that multi-agency working is embedded and drives positive outcomes for young people in the community.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee the strategic and operational management of the Youth Justice Service to ensure its effective delivery in line with the Youth Justice Management Board requirements and relevant government policies and service regulations. Lead and drive practice improvement initiatives, service innovation, and quality assurance to enhance the services provided, ensuring they meet the needs of young people and their families. Ensure the service operates in a way that effectively prevents anti-social behaviour and offending by young people, with a focus on early intervention and support. Develop and foster strong local partnerships across multi-agency teams to enable the effective delivery of services and support positive strategic developments in the community. Take responsibility for ensuring services are responsive to the needs of young people with multiple and complex needs. Provide leadership to ensure that all staff within the service are supported, motivated, and equipped to deliver high-quality services to young people and their families.

As part of our hybrid working policy, you will have the ability to work from home and from an office location.

About You: We are looking for a strategic thinker with substantial senior management experience in leading the provision of programmes and services to support the inclusion of young people and youth justice services. A proven track record in developing and delivering effective, innovative programmes that support social inclusion and prevent offending. Experience in multi-agency partnership working and delivering strategic change. Knowledge of relevant government policy, service regulation requirements, and best practices in youth justice. Experience of managing a budget and contributing to financially related decisions. A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people, particularly those with multiple and complex needs. A professional qualification at degree level in a relevant field.
