This is a key leadership position within the Royal Devons People Directorate, tasked with shaping and delivering innovative workforce solutions for all AfC and Medical and Dental workforce groups. Working in collaboration with key stakeholders across the Trust, you will lead on workforce supply, retention, and organisational design initiatives, ensuring a skilled and sustainable workforce aligned with the Trust's vision fit for the future.

As a trusted advisor and change leader, you will combine strategic planning, data-driven insights, and innovative thinking to build a workforce that thrives in today's healthcare environment while being prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

Job responsibilities

As the Strategic Resourcing and Workforce Partner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Royal Devon has a future-ready, skilled, and engaged workforce. This is a strategic position where you will work with key stakeholders and experts across the Trust and lead the design and implementation of workforce supply and retention strategies, ensuring they align with the Trust's long-term goals and national healthcare priorities.

You will collaborate closely with senior leaders, strategic workforce planners and external partners to address immediate workforce challenges and prepare for future demands. Using workforce analytics provided and injecting your own organisational design principles, you will develop sustainable models that enhance staffing efficiency, improve job satisfaction and support the delivery of high-quality care.

A significant part of your role will focus on retention, where you'll design and deliver strategies that foster a positive working culture, support career development, and improve work-life balance for staff. By engaging with employees and analysing workforce trends, you will provide actionable insights to shape retention initiatives and ensure the Trust remains an employer of choice.

In addition to leading on organisational design and development projects, you will contribute to transformational projects that promote innovation and continuous improvement. Whether addressing skill mix demands, aligning workforce plans with national NHS initiatives such as the Long Term Plan, or supporting clinical transformation projects, you will be instrumental in driving change that enhances both staff and patient outcomes.

This role demands a proactive and forward-thinking individual who can provide expert advice to stakeholders, produce high-quality reports to inform decision-making, and represent the Trust at regional and national forums.
