There is now a great opportunity to join a well-established engineering company that designs, develops, and manufactures a range of bespoke products for a number of Stress Engineers. As a Stress Engineer, you will work as part of a wider team on all phases of the project life cycle, including design, development, validation, and production for a range of high-value products. The successful candidates will be the structural technical authority for several products, responsible for conducting Finite Element Analysis (baseline software is Abaqus) of components (metals, rubber/rigid insulants, bondlines, pressure vessels). Support and training will be provided for the successful candidate to fill any gaps in knowledge and experience. Responsibilities include:

Stress analysis of new and existing complex components & systems. Typical analysis tasks will include: Linear / Non-linear static analysis Transient thermomechanical analysis Vibration analysis Fatigue analysis Viscoelastic analysis Utilise software and programming techniques, including: Abaqus, Fortran, and Matlab Providing technical support to projects from a structural-specific perspective Produce key project documentation, such as structural analysis and structural test plans Experience: We are interested in speaking to Junior Engineers who have recently completed their studies and Senior Stress Engineers who are seeking to take a lead role in the department. Educated to degree level with relevant Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, or Material Science). Previous experience in the use of FEA software Good appreciation of material science (Metals, composites, viscoelastic materials, adhesives, and manufacturing methods). Experience with CAD modelling & programming techniques to conduct analysis (Altair-Hyperworks / Fortran / Python / Matlab/Mathcad) Ability to apply critical thinking to complex technical problems The opportunity: This is an excellent opportunity for both Junior and experienced Stress Engineers to join a global defence supplier who are investing heavily in R&D on the back of significant new business.
