We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the A rated Stroke Team at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust. An exciting opportunity has come up within the stroke team to get involved in the leadership of the developing community outreach services including the 'Early Supported Discharge' team. This unique service works closely with an in-house team of stroke-specific carers, physios, and SLTs to provide intensive rehabilitation to patients within their own home in the West Kent area.

We would welcome an innovative and passionate neuro occupational therapist with a keen eye for quality improvement and evidence-based care. You will need to have a flexible approach, be resourceful and enthusiastic in demonstrating the impact and added value that Occupational Therapy brings to the pathway. Excellent time management, resilience, and prioritisation skills are essential for delivery of an efficient and effective service.

Main duties of the job We are looking for experienced, dynamic, innovative, and forward-thinking Occupational Therapists to be involved in this exciting opportunity. The successful candidates will be a highly skilled clinician with expert clinical knowledge, skills, and experience supervising and educating others.

You will need to have a flexible approach, be resourceful and enthusiastic in demonstrating the impact and added value that Occupational Therapy brings to the acute stroke pathway. Excellent time management, resilience, and prioritisation skills are essential for delivery of an efficient and effective service.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

Diploma/Degree in Occupational therapy HCPC registration Evidence of in-depth postgraduate study or qualification

Desirable

Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists Training in Management and leadership skills

Experience and Knowledge Essential

Postgraduate experience in Neurology Experience in working in any of the following areas: general medicine, acute, inpatient or community neuro-rehab, older people's rehab Experience of developing junior occupational therapy and other staff through CPD / PDP/ clinical supervision Managing a complex/highly complex caseload Experience of working as part of an occupational therapy team and/or multi-disciplinary team Experience of working with support workers Experience of audit Supervision of Students

Appreciation of changes in health and social care provision Understanding of primary care agenda

Skills Essential

Expert skills in Occupational therapy for patients with medical and surgical conditions and elderly care needs Ability to manage own caseload and record keeping/paperwork in the time allocated Effective communication skills both written and verbal Good time management skills and ability to prioritise Computer literacy Ability to motivate and train others using different teaching modalities Evidence of active participation in In-Service Training & Clinical governance Demonstrate an ability and enthusiasm to develop evidence base for clinical practice Ability to function as an expert autonomous practitioner Experience of and commitment to Multidisciplinary working Able to complete tasks despite frequent interruptions Able to manage patients with behavioural/social/communication difficulties and to impart difficult/distressing information to patients and carers Able to deal with exposure to bodily fluids
