Based in either London or Epsom Office. Scope & Purpose of the Job: The primary role is to carry out structural engineering work including structural engineering analysis and calculations. The job also involves other more general façade engineering tasks including site monitoring visits, design and drawings as directed on façade projects and assisting with carrying out façade survey and existing buildings. Responsibilities: Producing engineering analysis and structural engineering calculations on projects. Checking the work of external structural engineering consultants. Creation of programs and spreadsheets for automated calculation. Creation of standard calculations within TEDDS. Visit site as and when necessary on projects. Keeping track of the latest facade structural and product information with regards to products and systems used within the façade industry. Assisting the directors, associates and senior staff with other tasks as required. There may be other items to be added to this list from time to time, and you will have the opportunity to discuss the work you are engaged in with a Director at frequent intervals. Required qualifications The role requires good practical and technical structural engineering knowledge and experience. The candidate must be bachelor degree qualified, a working towards Chartered membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers. An MSc would be an advantage. The candidate should also have a good knowledge of facade materials, products, manufacturing methods and construction methods. Experience The candidate must have at least 5 years experience in structural design, including structural design within the facade engineering industry. ATTRIBUTES Qualifications & Training: ESSENTIAL A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering High level of health & safety awareness DESIRABLE A Master's Degree in Structural Engineering Chartered Status Knowledge ESSENTIAL Good standard of written & spoken English Relevant Experience ESSENTIAL Demonstrates a good portfolio of façade structural engineering work Experience of liaising with team members of all levels within an organisation Working within a busy office Excellent organisational ability & attention to detail Works well under the direction of Senior colleagues DESIRABLE Experience of guiding and assisting less experienced colleagues Experience in project and business management Good working knowledge of the facade engineering industry Management experience Demonstrates a level of confidentiality when dealing with clients Ability/Skills ESSENTIAL Ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload and keep to tight deadlines Ability to prioritise workload Ability to work flexibly Good interpersonal skills Adaptable DESIRABLE A proven ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and those involved with projects Good Report writing skills Ability to use discretion Special Requirements ESSENTIAL Willing to work in Epsom, Surrey DESIRABLE A clean & valid UK Driver's Licence
