John Clegg & Co, the forestry division of Strutt & Parker, have an outstanding reputation as forestry and woodland specialists throughout the UK. They offer a range of professional forestry services including sales brokerage, woodland and asset management, valuation and buyside advisory to a well-established and expanding client base. The business is looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual to help expand and drive forward sales agency / brokerage department within the business. The role: The individual will have a mixed skills base and the confidence and ability to buy and sell, as well as the attention for detail needed for valuations. Forestry experience is not essential, however an appreciation of land agency and the experience of being a qualified chartered surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent is preferred. The ability to develop and service a wide-ranging client base is essential, both private and institutional. Ideally Edinburgh based and reporting to the Head of Forestry based in Edinburgh. Remote working considered providing at least one day in the office per week. To act as principal sales/disposals agent for forest and woodland owners throughout Scotland and north England To assist the Registered Valuer with forestry valuations and property portfolios, to include site work, valuation preparation and draft presentation To identify investment opportunities for forest/planting land acquisitions and to present investment recommendations to clients Responsibilities: Maintain a strong client base in Scotland and north England Maintain an proactive agent presence throughout the sales process Become proficient in the use of a drone to survey potential client’s properties, and ensure that operator’s manual for John Clegg & Co conforms with CAA standards Key Skills: Qualified Chartered Surveyor and/or competent and experienced MICFor qualified forester, or working towards qualifications. Ideally, experience of delivering sales across a range of projects Capable of building relationships with existing and new clients and generating new opportunities Possess a composed manner in order to be able to work under pressure Good time management, ability to prioritise workloads and ability to meet deadlines Accuracy and attention to detail including report writing and preparation of sales particulars. Able to analyse forest data and produce valuations and cash flows for internal purposes and client presentations Excellent communication skills - must be capable of building and maintaining good relationships with team members, other colleagues and clients. Confident manner with clients and the team including the wider S&P/BNPRE teams Flexible approach to work and hours undertaken An understanding of confidentiality issues and the use of discretion Person specification Qualifications: University educated MRICS and/or ideally member of or working towards membership of ICF Experience Ideally minimum of five years working in the forest industry/land management/brokerage Proficient in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint Qualified drone pilot holding PfCO (desirable, but not required) Ideally proficient in GIS mapping.
