This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board. Job Description Overview Wincanton Group Transport is responsible for the subcontracting spend of over £100m spread across multiple sectors such as Retail, Grocery, General Merchandise, Construction, and Industrial. This function has recently relocated to a bespoke control tower in Nottingham. In line with anticipated growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join the control tower as a subcon automation deployment manager. The role will report into the Subcon Automation General Manager. Following Wincanton's purchase of the evergreen license in the UK and Ireland of the Zeus digital freight platform, which has now been rebranded as the EyeQ digital marketplace, the successful candidate will be expected to manage the transition of our haulage community onto the digital platform. This will involve digitising all of Wincanton's current subcontract spend. This includes devising a robust rollout plan for training our technologies, including a new driver app. This implementation needs to be in line with the business direction and strategic objectives, including relationships and the development of a transport community. You will be required to onboard hauliers and drivers to new technologies, increase coverage, and improve payment processes. Once the existing haulage base has been onboarded, the expectation is to roll the platform out to the wider UK haulage network and to grow our community. The role is based at our new Nottingham control tower with the requirement to travel to sites and hauliers. How will you contribute? Manage the transition of subcontractors onto the digital marketplace. Help grow subcontract spend on the marketplace. Driver app compliance and management. Devise and implement the training plan for hauliers. Manage compliance reviews and ensure that relationships are grown and maintained. Ensure that haulage partners are paid on time through a robust process. System compliance and use of the mobile app. Attend daily and weekly internal calls representing group transport. Develop a relationship with IT to ensure road map is on track. Manage external subcontract marketplace performance, availability, and opportunity. Attend weekly and monthly reviews as appropriate. Support with pricing and modelling of new business. Help to promote, demonstrate, and grow the marketplace including customer demos. Lead digitisation initiatives. Market trend analysis. What will you bring? Excellent communicator at all levels. Ability to build relationships. Demonstrable knowledge of the UK haulage network. Experience of using digital marketplaces & digital apps desirable. Excellent presentation skills. Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel - minimum 30% travel required. Knowledge of Routing/Optimisation software and the applications available. Competency in report writing, PC software, and communications. Project management experience and ability to demonstrate principles and practices. Analytical skills and experience of interpreting management information. Self-starter and a logical problem solver. Experience of PowerBi and other reporting suites. What do we offer? Our Culture & Benefits In addition to generous remuneration, we really value our people and offer a friendly, safety-first working environment, along with other benefits including a company pension scheme, generous holidays, cycle to work scheme, and employee benefits including an online discount platform, onsite parking, and much more.
