Applications are invited from experienced Consultant Neurologists to join the Speciality Medicine Collaborative, here at NCIC. The Neurology service is delivered across a number of sites in North Cumbria as well as providing an in-reach service to the 2 acute hospitals. In addition to managing general Neurology referrals, the trust has developed a number of sub-specialties and applicants will be required to have experience in MS. Main duties of the job

The posts will involve out-patient and in-patient consultations. Specific commitments would be agreed in negotiation with colleagues once appointed. There are a number of outpatient clinics that are delivered across sites across the Trust when needed, giving you the opportunity to see the wonderful landscape of North Cumbria. The department also operates A&G to GP and consultant colleagues alike within normal office hours. About us

Qualifications

Fully registered with the General Medical Council MRCP or equivalent Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) MD or PhD degree Clinical Skills & Experience

Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers, and other staff Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients Specialist Registrar in Neurology or Equivalent Experience of working with primary care/community colleagues A commitment to and experience of teaching Experience of structured patient education A sub-speciality Neurology interest Knowledge

Able to complete basic history taking and examination - physical and mental Evidence-based practice Specialist training courses relevant to post, e.g., psychopharmacology Mental health legislation Personal Skills

Communication skills Interpersonal skills Uses a non-judgmental approach to patients Flexibility Resilience Thoroughness Probity Organisation and Planning

Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need Evidence of participation in audit Experience & ability to work in multi-professional teams Understanding of NHS, clinical governance & resource constraints Information technology skills Evidence of continuing professional development Appropriate progression of career to date Other
