About the Role:
Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated and proactive Recycling Centre Supervisor to join our Place Management team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of our waste transfer stations and Household Waste & Recycling Centres (HWRCs).
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise waste operatives, recycling advisors, and plant operators.
Manage day-to-day operations of waste transfer stations and HWRCs.
Oversee the unloading, sorting, and loading of waste and recyclables.
Operate hydraulic compaction equipment and other machinery.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and waste management permits.
Handle the van permit scheme and booking systems.
Engage with the public to maximize recycling rates and ensure site rules are followed.
Maintain accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork.
Qualifications and Skills:
LGV (Category C) Licence and Driver CPC (if applicable).
WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate of Technical Competence (or willingness to obtain within 2 years).
Experience in waste management or a similar field.
Strong supervisory and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and handle physical tasks in various weather conditions.
