L3Harris in Brighton are part of Release Systems and the Mission Avionics sector operating in the Aerospace domain. As part of the RC-135 based Airseeker/Rivet Joint programme, we deliver strategic and tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capability. We provide comprehensive carriage, release and interfacing solutions to integrate weapons and stores onto crewed and uncrewed air platforms. We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team and be responsible for quality improvement issues related to suppliers and/or subcontractors of materials, products or services used in development or manufacturing, as well as overseeing and supporting First Article Review for the site. The role also includes responsibility for quality improvement issues relating to in-house programmes. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time to customer sites. Use Six Sigma & Lean concepts for improvement of quality and delivery metrics both internally and in the supply base. Provide training for basic quality methodologies to support supplier partnerships. Support programs assessing potential new suppliers. Support Supplier Development Engineers with the implementation of supplier partnership concepts with focus suppliers. Review, analyse and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems, both internally and externally. Perform and evaluate root cause and corrective action to correct product/process deficiencies, ensuring implementation and action effectiveness both internally and with suppliers. Perform elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, and First Articles). Support Supplier Development Engineers assisting suppliers with the implementation of Zero-Defect Plans (ZDP) with critical suppliers, by assisting them to develop robust processes, performing process/product validations, and recommending internal and external improvements (process and design). Support the internal review of Supplier First Article Inspections for the Brighton site. Train suppliers to the latest revision of AS9102. Support the internal MRB process when supplied material is identified as nonconforming and take appropriate corrective action(s) with the supplier. Work proactively with L3Harris suppliers utilizing tools such as APQP and Zero-Defect Planning to mitigate the risk of escapes to L3Harris and/or L3Harris customers. Support programmes internally by being the Quality team representative within the program, agreeing and completing the necessary Quality related actions to drive programme progress within schedule and budgetary constraints. What you’ll bring The role requires the following experience and skills: Degree qualified in relevant field with prior relevant experience. AS9102 experience. Demonstrated knowledge in Machine & Fabrication and/or electrical/electronic manufacture. Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using standard RCA tools – e.g. 5Y. Ability to perform trend analyses. Working knowledge of APQP & PPAP implementation and associated elements (desirable). Experience with Predictive Quality and problem-solving methodologies (desirable). ISO9001 / AS9100 and process audit experience (desirable). Supplier Development and Engagement experience (desirable). Experience presenting to upper-level management (desirable). Lean Concepts (desirable). Commodity management experience (desirable).
