Site Technology Support Engineer

to join our team, playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of technology systems across our fuel, retail, and quick-serve food locations. This hands-on role combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service to maintain and troubleshoot the critical technologies that support our business operations. This position is based in the

North East

and covers sites across the

North of England and Scotland , with occasional travel to other locations as required. A company car or van will be provided for the successful candidate. Key responsibilities: Perform on-site installations, configurations, and routine maintenance of technology systems to ensure optimal functionality across multiple site locations. Diagnose and resolve issues with point-of-sale systems, payment terminals, networking equipment, and other hardware, minimising downtime and operational disruptions. Conduct regular on-site evaluations to ensure technology systems meet company standards and operational requirements, addressing potential risks or gaps. Provide hands-on training to site staff on new systems and software updates, empowering teams to use technology effectively. Act as the primary point of contact for on-site technology-related inquiries and support needs. Work closely with the Site Technology Quality & Installation Manager to report on field activities, technology performance, and any identified issues. Build and maintain relationships with local vendors and technicians to facilitate rapid resolution of technology-related problems and ensure consistent service quality. Maintain detailed and accurate records of installations, repairs, maintenance, and system updates, ensuring compliance with company protocols. Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations during site visits, ensuring a secure working environment for all stakeholders. Essential: Proven track record as a Field Engineer or in a similar role, ideally within the fuel, retail, or quick-serve food industries. Advanced technical skills with comprehensive knowledge of retail systems, electronic payment technologies, and POS hardware/software. Solid experience in installing and troubleshooting networking systems, including wired and wireless configurations. Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges. Ability to work autonomously while managing responsibilities across multiple sites, ensuring timely and effective task completion. Strong focus on delivering excellent customer service, with the ability to interact professionally with site staff and management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly and build effective relationships. Desirable: Educational Background: A technical certification or diploma in Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is highly preferred, demonstrating a solid foundation in technical expertise.
