Salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. Please note that this position is temporary until June 2025. You will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs within our school. You will be responsible for the personal care needs of pupils and, under the direction of the class teacher, help pupils with specific learning activities, follow instructions, and organize their work. When required, you will provide supervision for pupils outside the classroom, e.g., in the playground, corridors, dining area, during PE, and organized school trips. You will have a pleasant, tolerant manner and a proven capacity to establish positive relationships with children and young people. Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential. A relevant qualification in childcare is desirable. PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria apply to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential: Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to confirmation of employment by East Dunbartonshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check, which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances, the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead. Should an employee leave before the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check. Charter of Commitment
