The Department of Orthopaedics currently has a vacancy for a Support Medical Secretary / Departmental Admin Assistant to work within our established administration team. The successful candidate must be a competent secretary who works well under pressure within a multi-disciplinary environment. The ability to work flexibly is essential, as is the ability to prioritise workloads, excellent communication skills, persistence, lateral thinking and a good sense of humour. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office systems. Considerable experience of the Patient Administration System, Bluespier, Galaxy Radar and Orthopaedics is desirable. Main duties of the job

Provide secretarial and administrative support to consultants and other medical staff using a range of secretarial procedures in accordance with the processes laid out in the Orthopaedics Admin Handbook. Contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of the waiting list practice and hospital systems. Support the Department’s management team and medical secretaries with general admin duties, RTT validation and typing as directed by the Clinical Admin Lead(s). Person specification

Experience/Qualifications

Previous NHS or similar experience 3 GCSE's (C / 4 or above) or equivalent, including English Experience of PAS, Bluespier, Galaxy, Radar AMSPAR or medical secretary qualification Practical/Intellectual Skills and Training

Understanding of hospital systems Knowledge of medical terminology Willingness to undertake training Knowledge of hospital activity Thank you for your application.
