Where will I beworking?
You will be workingin our service in Birchington where we support 8 individuals.We offer a 24-hour supported living facility in providingsupport for adults with Learning Disabilities. We tailor oursupport to enable people to be as independent aspossible.
Support Workers are linked to workwith a specific person based on shared preferences andpersonalities creating a bespoke core team of staff.
Days can consist of supporting people to meet with friendsor family, accessing health professionals, housework, shopping, daytrips, cooking, holidays, Gym classes.
Peoplethat we support here have a mixture of communication, mobility andhealth needs and this would be described as a quiet but activeenvironment. This location is perfect for access to local transportbeing close to the train station and bus routes, with the localtown just up the road.
ShiftPatterns
This is a 24-hourservice, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working arange of shifts including nights and some weekends.
Average potentialearnings are £25,383 based on 37 hours.
*Potential average earnings are a culmination ofcolleagues working additional shifts and where applicable sleepins**
** sleep ins are notrequired in all services
***not all colleagues will work overtime andtherefore potential earnings will differ
Role Responsibility
What will I bedoing?
This is a hands-onjob in which no two days are the same. Your duties willinclude:
- Promoting the independenceof the people we support
- Supporting a fullrange of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days outor going away on holiday
- Arranging activitiesin the home and in the local community
- Developing residents' life skills and personalinterests
- Helping residents stay safe andhealthy
- Assisting with personal careneeds
- Manual handling
- Supporting people with medication
- Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the requiredstandard at all times and contributing to service monitoringrequirements

Whilst knowledge of learning disabilities and complexneeds would be beneficial, it isn't essential. What is essential isthat you are:
- Passionate, caring andenthusiastic
- Flexible, patient andnon-judgemental
- A great team player with lotsof energy
- Able to demonstrate goodcommunication skills
- Able to complete thephysical aspects of the role such as manual handling whereneeded
