Position: Support Worker
Role Summary:
As a Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to young people, helping them develop the skills needed for independent living. You will play a vital role in their daily lives, assisting with everything from personal care and budgeting to fostering positive relationships and supporting their health and well-being. You will be part of a team dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering space for young people to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Empowering Young People:
Support young people in identifying and achieving personal goals, fostering independence in all areas of their life.
Encourage young people to actively participate in the decision-making process regarding their care and support needs.
Help young people develop life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
Emotional and Practical Support:
Provide emotional support to young people, fostering trust and promoting positive mental health and well-being.
Assist young people with daily tasks, including hygiene, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
Support young people to manage their finances and budget effectively.
Support Planning and Advocacy:
Work collaboratively with the Senior Support Worker and Service Manager to implement and review Individual Support Plans tailored to each young person's needs.
Act as a key worker for a designated young person, advocating on their behalf with external professionals such as social workers, GPs, and education providers.
Building Relationships:
Facilitate opportunities for young people to build and maintain positive relationships with their families, friends, and the wider community.
Encourage participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
Health and Safety:
Ensure the safety and well-being of young people through risk assessments, health and safety protocols, and regular fire drills.
Support young people in accessing appropriate medical care, including arranging appointments and liaising with healthcare professionals.
Safeguarding:
Ensure that the welfare of each young person is safeguarded at all times, following the company’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
Report any concerns regarding the safety or well-being of the young people to the Senior Support Worker or Manager.
Administrative and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided, in line with Optionz Supported Housing policies.
Participate in administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the service, including updating care plans, incident reports, and financial procedures.
Team Collaboration and Professional Development:
Work closely with colleagues, attending team meetings and sharing information to ensure a cohesive and high-quality service.
Participate in training, supervision, and annual appraisals to continue your professional development and ensure best practice in care delivery.
Compensation and Benefits:
£13 per hour for Seniors | £12 per hour Level III Qualified | £11.44 per hour Unqualified.
£50 per sleep-in shift.

Experience:
Semi-Independent Or Children's Home Support work: 2 years (required)
Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), equivalent or willingness to work towards it. (Required)
