Supported accommodation is a growing sector in Croydon. We as an authority are looking to review all current housing benefit claims for residents living in this type of accommodation in the borough to ensure that the quality of the care and support being provided by the landlord is of a good standard, as well as ensuring the council is getting value for money for the service being paid for through Housing Benefit. We have set up a multi-disciplinary team for two years to carry out these reviews. The successful candidate will be working alongside housing benefit officers to ensure a full and comprehensive review of all the residents and properties in the borough living in supported accommodation. The role will involve being out in the borough and visiting residents in supported accommodation, assessing their level of need and reviewing the level of support being provided by their landlord. It will involve working alongside landlords to ensure an agreed standard of support is being provided, as well as reviewing how they are working with their residents to move them on to more long-term secure accommodation. A part of the role will be working closely with the housing benefit officers in the team to review new benefit claims and advise on the needs of potential residents. This is a new team with new roles, and so there is an opportunity for everyone who is part of the team to work on developing the process to ensure the success of the project. The Person:

We are looking for someone with experience of working within a supported accommodation setting or experience in assessing the level of need of vulnerable adults and working with service providers and residents. The successful candidate will have previous experience and understanding of good practice in relation to housing-related support services. They will be able to manage their workload and complete reports detailing findings, action plans, and outcomes. The position is a fixed term/secondment for up to two years due to funding. Closing Date: Sunday 05 January 2025 at 11:59pm Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Subject to business needs, we will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working, whereby staff attend the workplace for part of their working week and work from home, or elsewhere, remotely for the rest of the time. As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role. Croydon Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
