Are you passionate about surgery and anaesthesia and looking to take your skills to the next level within a supportive, dynamic team with amazing facilities? Here at Basildon Pitsea hospital, we're looking for an experienced RVN to join our team as a surgical nurse to work predominantly in the theatre team, focusing on surgical nursing, pain management and anaesthesia.

About us We're a 24-hour RCVS small animal accredited hospital and emergency services clinic whose values are compassion, empowerment and excellence; this is at the heart of what we do always. We have a passion for patient centred integrated care and our unique hospital environment allows us to provide that. We have multiple advanced facilities including in house CT, MRI, a wide range of lab machines, video endoscopes as well as a dedicated dental area with dental X-ray. This allows us the opportunity to treat cases to a high standard in house and enables excellent continuity of care.

We have a strong nursing team and our own in-house rehabilitation team providing hydrotherapy and physiotherapy for patients throughout their stay and as outpatients. We are very passionate about pain control and anaesthesia including regional anaesthesia so much so that we recently acquired our zero-pain practice accreditation.

We carry out a wide range of advanced soft tissue, orthopaedic and spinal surgeries whilst at the same time offering routine healthcare and procedures. This allows our clinical team to be exposed to a plethora of case variety from routine procedures like neutering to advanced procedures such as TPLO's and hemilaminectomies along with offering emergency cover for several local clinics resulting in high case load of emergency and critical care cases all within state-of-the-art cat, dog and exotic wards as well as outpatients and isolation units.

We are 30 mins by train outside of central London as well as having direct transport links to Southend and Stanstead airports.

About you and the role We're looking for someone who is happy to lead by example, has great communication and organisational skills and is looking to work with a positive and passionate team. For this role you will need at least 1-2 years RVN experience.

Education and support for our team is important to us. We regularly offer EMS placements and are a veterinary nursing training practice. It's important to us that all our colleagues work together to provide a progressive and supportive learning environment for all members of our team. Thus, clinical coaching is a requirement of the role, full training will be provided if you are not yet a clinical coach.

Many of our vets and nurses are either certificate holders or working towards these qualifications. Some of our nurses have advanced certificates in anaesthesia, ECC, feline medicine, hydrotherapy, exotics and dentistry, all fully funded by our hospital.

All colleagues have regular check-ins and quarterly reviews where we focus on hospital wide goals as well as personal and clinical development.

Our team currently consists of 14 vets, 15 RVNs, 8 SVNs, 10 VCAs and excellent levels of support in our client care and finance teams too. You will be supported in your role by the Head Veterinary Nurse, Sarah and Head of Clinical services Kelly. We also have lead nurses in surgery and medicine to allow for support, development and guidance in these areas.

This role is full time working 40 hours a week across 4 days, with a set day off each week and only 1 in 4 weekends.
