London NW1 2AY Starting salary £49,278 per annum plus £6,652 London Weighting Allowance Closing date 10 January 2025 Hours 35 Contract type Full time, fixed term Contract length Fixed Term Contract for 12 months Reference ORD/195T About this job This is a new role within our busy central procurement team at UNISON. The world in which UNISON operates faces unparalleled environmental and social sustainability challenges. UNISON has taken steps to mitigate and adapt its operations to manage some of these; however, there are opportunities to do more. A core function of this role will centre on how the union can responsibly limit and measure its impact and dependence on natural, social, and human capital, and determine how this will be governed. The successful candidate will lead the organisation’s response to the depletion and erosion of natural and social capital. This role requires specialist knowledge in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management theories and an understanding of how these can be practically applied within the union. Alongside compelling ESG credentials, the successful candidate will have a strong background in change management theory and its practical application, coupled with knowledge of UNISON’s culture and ways of working. Developing a sustainable development strategy that embeds ESG considerations into the union's operations is an organisational change requiring thoughtful management and strong leadership. If implemented effectively, this area could provide, among other benefits, a keystone to enhancing and bolstering the union’s continual growth. While the post-holder will report to the Procurement Manager, the remit extends beyond this function. You will be expected to work with various departments, Regional Secretaries, and other Senior Managers to ensure that delivery and messaging on sustainability in UNISON align with and inform other organisational priorities, and that the required measures are consistently applied throughout the union.
