Role Overview You will work as part of a small central team providing central direction and support to the broader business on sustainability matters. You and the team are responsible for developing the strategy for environmental and sustainability management and reporting, working with individual business operations to develop and implement processes that drive change. You will play a key role in communicating and improving the systems and processes to collect, consolidate and report on the data. You Will Maintain and continuously improve the processes and systems related to collecting, consolidating, and processing sustainability data, including but not limited to the data required to undertake Genus’ energy and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reporting. Support the implementation, maintenance and ongoing application of the sustainability data software acting as the subject matter expert to provide guidance throughout global operations. Work with global, regional and functional teams to ensure consistent application of existing processes whilst continuously seeking areas of improvement. Develop and maintain documented processes and procedures for Genus, and work in collaboration with business unit peers to ensure any local documented processes are aligned to, and compliant with, Genus’ requirements. Monitor and analyse sustainability performance and identify potential areas for improvement. Provide support with the external assurance process of Sustainability metrics and KPIs. Maintain an overview of sustainability projects and initiatives throughout the business and oversee the monitoring of progress and verification of outcomes. Provide assistance and support to members of the team, including research tasks, data synthesis and analysis, calculations, and report writing. Support existing regulatory reporting compliance through participation in preparing disclosures such as Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD); Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR); and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). Engage with internal stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and foster collaborative relationships in support of Sustainability goals and objectives. Requirements Educated to degree level Experience of working with large datasets and the ability to synthesise and interpret data into meaningful and material conclusions. Broad understanding of environmental issues, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, and sustainable development practices. A basic and developing understanding of carbon accounting methodologies and Standards such as GHG Protocol and GRI. Familiarity with global sustainability reporting frameworks and regulations applicable to a global organisation, such TCFD, SECR, and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Ability to learn new technology applications such as bespoke software solutions. Intermediate to advanced Excel spreadsheet skills ideally combined with proficiency in Power BI. High proficiency in Word and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A genuine interest in Sustainability, and willingness to learn new skills and concepts such as those listed in desired skills and experience. Ideally proven experience of project management.
