Job Purpose: We are seeking a System Engineer to join our Support Team who maintain the Surveillance systems at our Swanwick control centre.

This is a fantastic time to join our team as we work to improve our Surveillance infrastructure and services by introducing new technology and surveillance equipment to ensure that we continue to deliver a reliable service to our customers as well as supporting the airspace user needs of the future. As part of critical national infrastructure, safety is paramount. Building safety culture into the design of our processes, systems, and our behaviours, enables us to provide an exemplary, safe and resilient service every day.

Duties include: Providing specialist expert knowledge to assigned/escalated Incidents, prioritising, diagnosing, and resolving them using agreed procedures. Analysis of Events and Incidents to initiate and undertake Problem Management activities to continuously improve service provision. Ensuring processes and tools are applied so that service configuration records remain accurate, complete, and current. Effective application of risk management to ensure that service levels are met, and residual risks are recorded and communicated. Implementing assigned Changes to meet customer requirements and improve the service. Essential skills and experience: Qualified to at least HNC level in an Engineering or IT discipline. Proven experience of working in an operational, real-time safety/mission critical environment with an appreciation of Air Traffic Control services. Knowledge and experience of Linux/Unix/AIX, networks, virtualisation, and data centre architecture technologies. Strong understanding of computer technology and hardware. Proven ability to work in teams, take responsibility, delegate, plan, and schedule activities efficiently. Ability to technically supervise others. Ability to communicate in a clear and precise manner (both written and oral). Ability to work calmly and systematically when resolving service incidents in a safety-related context. Flexibility and adaptability in an environment of continuous technology platform changes. Additional vacancy Information:

The successful candidate will complete a comprehensive training programme to gain the necessary system knowledge. Once trained, you will be a member of an on-call roster as part of the 24-hour support to the operation. There may be the need to provide phone support or attend out of hours for service restoration or to deploy planned service changes. You must be able to attend our Swanwick Centre within 1 hour of the call.
