This role involves planning the future of wastewater treatment assets in London. The system planning team identify risks, carries out System Reviews, scopes up investigations and integrates those outputs into a System Plan that feeds current and future investment expenditure. We are focused on ensuring that our systems can perform as they need to, considering population growth, climate change, asset health and new regulatory obligations. We also look to improve the performance of our systems by reducing flood risk and minimising pollution incidents as well as improving the rivers that we discharge into.

What you’ll be doing as a System Planner

Build and maintain within the System Plan, a prioritised list of investment requirements using information gathered from environmental data, customer engagement/complaint data, asset performance data, modelling and other decision support tools. Represent your team at regular operational risk review meetings and regularly engage with the teams that manage the treatment and network assets. From these meetings, you will be expected to formulate concise investment requirements and promote them through the corporate governance process. Identify system capability as well as system risk and performance. Engage internal delivery partners to ensure upgrades to our assets meet our long-term requirements as well as short-term financial constraints. Contribute to the development of Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs) ensuring that site-specific investigative work is succulently briefed and appropriate constrained interventions are identified. Provide concise technical information in a style and language our customers and stakeholders can understand when responding to queries, correspondence from customers and Environmental Information Requests.

What you should bring to the role

Excellent coordination skills as you will be managing multiple tasks at once. A degree in Engineering, scientific or an environmental-based subject. Previous experience and knowledge of wastewater process and/or network; the UK water industry and/or; utility intensive industries is desirable. What’s in it for you?

This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys a diversity of work and a varied schedule. The successful candidate will be instrumental in planning investments to address asset health, asset performance, and water quality demands.
