The department you will be working in will be based in the UK as part of the APS EMEA LATAM Customer Centre (Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America). You will be focusing on the development of the Airport segment with particular focus on UK Key Account for Heathrow. Furthermore, your department supports other Customer Centres globally on the disciplines Sales Layout Engineering, Simulation, Sales Engineering and Sales Consultancy. To support our current growth plans, we are looking for a System Consultant to strengthen our team.

Role Responsibilities

As a System Consultant, you will be responsible for designing the baggage handling system during the project pre-contract phase to ensure a successful sale. You will collaborate closely with specialists, such as Layout, Simulation, and Process Engineers, as well as the commercial team, including the Sales Manager and Sales Engineer. As part of our dynamic and multidisciplinary sales team, your goal will be to identify and analyse customers’ needs and develop them into successful sales concepts.

During the sales stage, you will be responsible for designing and providing solutions for complex technical and business issues based on data and process analyses. You will engage with customers to thoroughly understand their business challenges. Using this insight, you will create competitive, high-quality solutions and persuade both the customer and our management to select our concept.

Your responsibilities and activities will include:

Problem / process analysis to better understand customer requirements.

Define a (design) win strategy based on customer discussions, tender requirements, award criteria and competition.

Lead the internal and external teams through the concept selection process. Document design decisions along the way.

Challenge internal and external stakeholders on design choices and provide ideas how to tackle new challenges.

Provide leadership (a clear path) to the design team even in difficult or ambiguous situations.

Write a compelling, professional proposal that demonstrates Vanderlande's strong points in the specific solution.

Develop a vision for the future of the industry using diverse inputs for specific sites, customers, or branches.

Apply new technologies in an early stage in concept designs and provide organisation on feedback to improve market/process fit.

Role Qualification and Skills

A master’s degree (or master’s level knowledge) in a technical or logistical field, with a strong preference for experience in a business-to-business environment.

Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience.

Strong analytical skills to create solutions based on understanding the customer’s logistics processes.

Capable of maintaining a strategic overview while also focusing on detailed aspects as required.

Well-developed influencing skills and leadership skills to guide both specialist and management to the winning system design.

Excellent communication skills, adaptable to a diverse range of roles.

Experience working in an international professional setting, ideally within a project-based organization.

Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. Professional proficiency in a second language is a plus.

Professionally Accredited with an engineering body or aiming to be is highly desirable.
