The role This role will provide Tax compliance services to a specialist sector, being GPs. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients, a local office check of tax returns prepared by the firm's shared service centre and preparation of tax returns, although this will be a limited number. You will also provide assistance to Managers/Director/Principals/Partners and will be involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis. A key part of the role requires the individual to actively seek, and keep the director informed about, any new business opportunities arising on existing and new clients.

Key responsibilities Manage a portfolio of clients to ensure deadlines are met for tax return submission Prepare client tax returns required by the Manager Liaise with the firm's shared service centre to ensure information is passed promptly and follow up on expected deadlines Pro-actively manage your workload and ensuring communication with managers/directors/partners on a regular basis to service clients Be comfortable working with self-employed individuals, Capital Gains tax calculations, property accounts and an understanding of pensions annual allowance and associated tax charges would be helpful Consider and highlight further opportunities to develop new work with existing and new clients Work as part of a team to provide ad-hoc assistance and ensure clients are provided with excellent service. Working efficiently and as part of a team to deliver work on a timely basis and to the required standard Update the team regularly with progress reports Take responsibility for all client matters as directed by the Manager Actively adhere to budget and time pressures, bringing matters to the attention of the senior or manager Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm Undertake any training or development co-ordinated by the Tax team Be willing and open to take on tasks and challenges provided by their manager Develop a clear understanding of relevant legislation

Skills and attributes Understanding of and previous experience within tax compliance, dealing with the annual tax return process of both small clients and partners and partnerships. Experience providing some tax advisory and compliance services to a variety of clients. Ability to research technical areas Ability to monitor workload and prioritise work Ideally ATT qualified or equivalent experience Good knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and CCH tax software
