Teaching Assistant - Supporting Pupils with Trauma in Camden

A welcoming primary school in Camden Borough, NW London, is looking for an empathetic and proactive Teaching Assistant to support two siblings across Year 2 and Year 6. These children have experienced trauma, which has affected their behaviour and emotional well-being. The role requires someone who can provide consistent, nurturing support and help them re-engage positively with their learning.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:

Provide 1:1 support for two pupils with emotional and behavioural needs, splitting your time between the Year 2 and Year 6 classes. Work collaboratively with class teachers to implement personalised strategies that promote emotional regulation and academic engagement. Foster a trusting and encouraging relationship with the children to support their personal growth. Use patience and creativity to adapt learning activities and manage challenging behaviour effectively. Liaise with staff and families to ensure a consistent approach to supporting the children.

What We're Looking For in a Teaching Assistant:

Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with children who have experienced trauma or behavioural challenges. A compassionate and understanding nature, with a calm and proactive approach. Strong communication and organisational skills to support the pupils effectively. Knowledge or interest in mental health, psychology, or trauma-informed practices is a plus. Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through the agency.

What This Role Offers You as a Teaching Assistant:

The chance to make a meaningful impact on two children's lives by providing essential emotional and academic support. A school committed to nurturing the whole child, with a strong focus on well-being. A supportive team environment with access to resources and ongoing guidance. Located in Camden, within easy reach of public transport links for stress-free commuting.

If you're a Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference in the lives of these pupils and help them achieve their potential, apply today! The school is trialling candidates soon, so don't miss this rewarding opportunity.
