The South Monmouthshire Integrated Service Team work across the South of the County to enable people to remain independent in their own homes through the provision of community-based health and social care services.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Team lead occupational therapist to join the South Monmouthshire Integrated Services based at Chepstow community hospital.

As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will provide clinical and professional leadership to therapists within the Integrated Team, as well as being an integral part of the wider multidisciplinary service comprising Social Work, Physiotherapy, District nursing and our reablement service. You will be expected to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of professionals and community organisations, in order to support individuals who access our service.

Main duties of the job

You will have day-to-day operational management of Occupational therapy staff delivering interventions for individuals living in the community, inpatients on the 32 bedded community ward at Chepstow community hospital and for individuals accessing the step/up down residential beds at Severn View Park residential home.

You will demonstrate excellent OT practice knowledge and provide specialist assessment for people requiring Occupational therapy.

You will be a role model, providing expert practitioner advice and you will demonstrate leadership at team, service and senior platforms as well as supporting strategic developments within the wider service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities

We provide all of our staff with the opportunity to develop their skills to meet the needs of the people that we serve and provide innovative and effective ways of delivering therapy intervention. We support all staff with professional supervision, regular development reviews and training/development opportunities.

Person Specification

Qualification and Knowledge

Essential

OT degree or diploma Member of HCPC At least 1 module (CQFW level 7 at 20/30 credits each) or post-registration equivalent linked to practice. Accredited practice placement educator Certificate in Leadership and/or Management or equivalent experience

Desirable

Member of relevant COT Specialist Section.

Experience

Essential

Extensive experience in working within practice setting. Some experience of operational management Significant experience working at Senior OT level Significant experience of supervising less experienced OTs Involvement in innovative working practices Contributing to development of local clinical guidelines. Experience of leading a change in OT clinical practice.
