The Role As a Team Leader Scalable Systems Administrator, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary providing leadership skills implementing, operating and maintaining a cluster delivering IT services to a diverse user community within the business. Day-to-day, you will: Lead a team and be responsible for developing and growing their IT and HPC skills in line with the requirements of the business. Configure and optimize Linux-based HPC environments for maximum performance and reliability and implement security best practices to safeguard both HPC systems and data. Monitor system performance and resource utilization proactively identifying and addressing any potential issues. Work as an experienced IT Engineer improving business delivery performing a variety of project, bid, investment tasks and lifecycle planning. Deploy and maintain high-performance computing capabilities to support engineering delivery whilst working in collaboration with software and IT teams within QinetiQ to enhance computing capability. Mentor and upskill junior team members providing redundancy in skills and career development. This role is a full-time position based at our Haslar site in Gosport and is 3-5 days a week on-site. Essential experience of the Team Leader Scalable Systems Administrator: Experienced with Virtual desktop environments, High-performance computing environments with a strong understanding of Linux operating and administration systems. Extensive experience with configuration and optimisation of queue systems and assisting end users to develop suitable job scripts. Proven experience with Low Latency or RDMA network technologies and Linux scripting languages in HPC environments. The ability to be able to lead a team whilst implementing decisions and strategies conveying technical concepts to non-technical users. A good understanding of common HPC programming languages to a level to suitably assist in debugging code issues. Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix or other virtualised desktop systems. Qualifications for the Team Leader Scalable Systems Administrator: A Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent field) or relevant technical experience.
