The role An exciting Team Leader vacancy has become available within our Stock Control and Stock Maintenance team based at our warehouse in Swansea. In your role as Team Leader, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the stock control department to ensure stock accuracy and availability while managing key stakeholders' demands. Within this role, you will have responsibility for at least 6 team members on any given day, so the ability to lead and motivate a team is key to success in this role. You will report directly to the Senior Team Leader. Within the department, there are several key functions that the stock control team will need to liaise with. It will be essential to communicate with departments not just based in Swansea but also our teams based in Basingstoke to ensure we can meet customer and publisher demands. This means the ability to analyse, consider, and manage information quickly and make effective decisions to meet your departmental objectives is essential. You will also be responsible for facilitating continuous improvement within the department, as part of this you will have the ability to take into account cost efficiencies when implementing any change. The person We are looking for an established people leader with at least two years of experience leading a team of at least five people. You will have experience in a fast-paced and people-focused role in a similar environment. You will need to be a great listener, an effective problem solver, and able to manage others' expectations. The successful individual will be confident in their ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, as there will be diverse demands, such as attending and documenting meetings, communicating across departments and with third parties, and managing changing demands. This also means that PC literacy and professionalism is a necessity. To be successful in this role, you will regularly demonstrate and encourage others to follow MDL’s behavioural standards, as well as have the capability to be a Team Leader. About us Macmillan Distribution (MDL) is the award-winning distribution arm of the Macmillan Publishing Group. MDL provides a distribution service for its own Group publishers as well as distribution services to over 40 third-party publishers. The commercial operations are based in Basingstoke and the warehouse in Swansea ensures a smooth operation of receiving, storing, and distributing an extensive range of books, handling over 40,000 titles. Hours of work 37.5 hours per week between 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday from January to August and 6am to 6pm September to December.
