Data Engineer - Salary £45,000 to £55,000 Are you ready to return to work after a career break? Do you have a passion for transformation? Do you like to challenge the status quo, think differently and look at ways technology can solve business problems? Then the Aviva Tech & Change Delivery Returner

Programme could be just what you’re looking for.? The Programme is now in its fourth year and is for those who’ve had an extended career break of two or more years, as of January 2025. This is a tailored six-month programme, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role.? We are currently recruiting for Data Engineer to be a part of our team! At Aviva, we love to constantly innovate and improve the experience and security for our customers.? For our Tech & Change Delivery Returner opportunities, you will need to have previously worked in a similar role to that being advertised. You don’t need to be from an insurance background, we’re interested in meeting you irrespective of which industry you’ve

previously work in. A bit about the Programme: Aviva is offering a paid six-month returner programme starting Tuesday 13th May 2025, with the expectation of a permanent role at the end.

Our Data Engineering role will be offered at Aviva’s Norwich office.

Aviva flexes hours and working patterns to suit its customers, business, and you.

The likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office (minimum 50%) with working from home each week. We call this Smart Working, combining the benefits of flexibility with time together with colleagues. Therefore, you’ll need to be willing to relocate if

you don’t currently live within reasonable commuting distance of the relevant office for the role you are applying for. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and get access to the right internal support networks

to help you to succeed.

Your journey on the programme starts with easing you in on your first day - getting your IT Kit and meeting your Leader and Buddy. This is followed by a Programme Induction where you’ll meet the Programme Leads and the other returners joining. During this

time, you’ll find out more about Aviva, the Tech & Change Delivery Returner Programme and you’ll join your first of four Career Returners Coaching Workshops.

You’ll then join your team where you’ll collaborate with lots of forward-thinking people - working alongside, sharing ideas with, and learning from the best in the business.

You’ll get to work (and play) with all the latest tech and be involved in some fascinating initiatives to make life better for our 19.6 million customers or colleagues. Nothing beats the buzz of seeing a project you’ve worked on save a colleague valuable

time or put a smile on a customer’s face.

Throughout the Programme, you’ll have a great internal and external support to help you to transition successfully back into the workplace, including a Leader, Mentor and Buddy and specialised returner coaching.

You’ll also enjoy the support of your peers and the Programme Leads on the returner programme and from previous cohorts.

A bit about the job: The Data Engineer will help develop technical solutions and delivery capability across the development & IT Change community. The role ensures development standards are maintained in delivering solutions on time and to budgetary targets. The Data Engineer

will provide technical input into the preparation of solution designs and have a good understanding of the detailed technical deliverables and requirements across multiple projects, keeping a clear overview of all aspects of this area.? This role will bring exciting opportunities as we will train you in new technologies and develop your skills into new technologies such as Snowflake and Gen AI.? Skills and experience we’re looking for: Hands on experience of data engineering and/or Data Warehousing.??

An understanding (doesn’t need to be experience of) of Cloud Technologies.??

Development of data pipeline based on SQL with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Tivoli scheduler.??

Intermediate programming skills around Python.

Awareness of CI/CD practices.

We’re looking for confident communicators who can break down technical concepts in a clear and engaging way.?
