Technical Architect
We're seeking an experienced Technical Architect to join a major government digital transformation programme delivering critical public services. You'll play a key role in designing and implementing modern, user-centered digital solutions that impact millions of citizens across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the technical architecture of large-scale digital services, ensuring they meet government security standards and accessibility requirements
Design resilient, scalable solutions using modern cloud technologies and microservices architecture
Collaborate with multiple delivery teams to ensure technical consistency and alignment with strategic goals
Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices, patterns, and technologies
Work within government technical standards including the Technology Code of Practice and Service Standard
Evaluate and recommend appropriate technology choices that balance innovation with reliability
Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and compliance requirements
Essential Experience:
Proven experience as a Technical Architect in large-scale digital transformation projects
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), microservices, and API design
Experience with government security classifications and NCSC guidelines
Track record of delivering highly available, secure, and accessible digital services
Understanding of DevOps practices and continuous delivery principles
Experience working in agile environments and with distributed delivery teams

Cloud infrastructure and platform services
API design and integration patterns
Identity and access management
Security architecture and threat modeling
Performance optimization and monitoring
