Our client based in Stafford Park Telford specializes in manufacturing inspection equipment, providing dimensional, visual, and destructive testing solutions predominantly for the Metal and Plastics Industries, specifically for Food and Beverage Can/Plastic Bottle Manufacturers.

In your role you will be responsible for:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The technical writer develops and maintains technical documentation within the engineering team. Provide document time estimations for scheduling and budgeting purposes. Conduct necessary research, including reading source material and meeting with other associated members of the team as necessary. Write/review/edit the documentation according to published department standards and procedures. Track requirements and coordinate the delivery of technical documentation. Write product descriptions, theory of operations, and other technical manuals and documentation. Develop documentation related to department standards and procedures. Create illustrations as needed; coordinate/arrange with graphic designers or other graphic resources to create more complicated illustrations. Submit drafts to management and peers; incorporate review comments into documents. Provide periodic status reports to Engineering Lead. Work with the engineering team during new product development and production phases; author all associated new information for the manuals from scratch with moderate supervision and re-use existing information. Read and interpret engineering information, drawings, and 3D CAD. Perform additional duties within capability.

The successful candidate will have the following skills: Familiarity with engineering standards, ISO standards, and CE standards. Minimum of 3 years' experience in creating maintenance, operations, troubleshooting, and setup/tear down procedures without source data. Experience with technical documentation development and editing of large-scale systems for both commercial and other customers. Experience in technical writing and editing in engineering topics. Engineering background desirable. Experience with mechanical and mechatronic systems. Excellent command of technical English (especially writing), with other languages being advantageous but not essential. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the company and subcontractor organizations. Multi-tasking skills and flexibility are essential. Able to give and receive constructive feedback. Well-developed Microsoft Office Word skills essential. Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks would be advantageous. The ability to perform in an ISO-9001 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Technical Writing, or Communications with experience in technical writing; a technical secondary education (apprenticeship) with 8 years' experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Salary:

£35,000 per annum

Hours:

Permanent, Full Time, Mon-Fri 39 hrs per week

Holiday:

33 days per year including statutory
