This role entails a comprehensive understanding of product configurations, strong technical skills, industry knowledge, and effective collaboration abilities to support stakeholders in delivering optimal solutions within the insurance domain.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and advises stakeholders on limitations and opportunities for customer solutions based on knowledge of the product set
  • Adheres to and contributes to the enhancement of best practice design and configuration of the product set
  • Creates and updates complex solution configurations including configurations for the following:
  • Rating algorithms
  • Underwriting, Claims and business rules
  • Stored procedures, database triggers, indexes and other database artefacts
  • Table creation and maintenance requiring detailed data entry
  • Forms creation and maintenance
  • Enquiries / Data Extraction / Reports / Documents
  • Product building including the implementation of dynamic logic, validations & workflow rules
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment for the building and updating of technical documents according to customer specifications
  • Conducts software unit testing & issue resolution
  • Creates and manipulates data output to create customised screens, reports and views for both demonstration purposes and end customer solutions
  • Leads and participates in internal quality reviews of solution design and test plans
  • Assists in design, development, review and execution of system test scripts
  • Supports the process of transitioning projects into support
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment for the building and updating of technical documents according to customer specifications
  • Conducts software unit testing & issue resolution

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the configuration of .Net applications
  • Strong SQL scripting skills
  • Knowledge of the Insurance industry and its processes and procedures gained through direct experience.
  • Moderate insurance and/or insurance software experience, preferably covering underwriting, claims, accounts and re-insurance
  • Practical working knowledge of at least one computer-based Insurance application.
  • Accomplished presentation/demonstration skills
  • Experience of SQL Server database systems
  • Working experience with Agile Scrum methodology
  • Have an understanding of entity-relationship diagrams
  • Working knowledge of the following concepts/skills:
  • Process Mapping (current and future state)
  • Development of data flow diagrams (current and future state)
  • General Insurance principles such as underwriting, claims, accounting and re-insurance across multiple lines of business
  • Knowledge of Unified Modelling Language
  • General Insurance principles such as underwriting, claims, accounting and re-insurance across multiple lines of business
  • Experience in following skills: XML, JSON, REST API
  • Experience of working on a distributed team across locations and time zones.
  • Experience of User Interface design
  • UX (User Experience) and/or UCD (User Centered Design) methodologies


Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience of DXC OPEN Product set
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of analysis techniques, ideally of using a formal analysis methodology in the building of solutions. (Some knowledge of analysing relational data would be beneficial.)
  • A high level of attention to detail with strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to Travel
