. Job Details The role of the Technical Inspector is to provide an inspection service to ensure that roads, footways, cycle routes and footpaths are maintained to a safe standard allowing consistent safe passage of network users. Main duties will include: Undertaking inspections and surveys to ensure that roads, footways, cycle routes, car parks and footpaths are maintained safely. Assisting in the coordination, administration, licensing, management & enforcement of activities affecting the road. Assisting in roads management functions and maintenance of assets. Ensuring compliance with current Health and Safety legislation. Supervising the activities of Contractors and Sub-Contractors. The Person Candidates should be educated to SCQF level 5, which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at credit level including Maths and English at level 3 or above, or equivalent. You should have experience of working in an office using current computer-based applications to carry out a range of duties. Good communication skills are necessary including an awareness of customer care with telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries. Experience within Local Government and of roads functions is essential, including an understanding of Roads Scotland Act 1984 & New Roads And Street Works Act 1991. You should be able to work as part of a team or on your own as required. Candidates should hold a full UK driving licence. Further Information Role Profile -
