£50,817 – £63,685 (depending on experience) What you’ll be doing:

Lead and manage a team of Engineers on the M777 Major Structures Manufacturing contract, overseeing engineering resource and tasks, assigning packages of work to individuals and support their development through objectives setting and Personal Development Reviews. Provide Engineering support throughout the installation and commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in the UK. Oversee and approve the generation of design and/or manufacturing drawings, and provide and/or approve calculations and analysis as required to justify a proposed course of action. Plan and manage assigned budgets and control ongoing engineering processes and activities to ensure delivery to agreed business needs. Participate fully in cross-functional projects/investigations ensuring requirements are delivered to plan. Develop, maintain, and control the technical interface to customers, suppliers, and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues and to deliver contractual commitments. Your skills and experiences:

Essential: Experience in engineering mentoring, leadership, and management. Experience in part-taking and leading design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders, whilst having experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications. Design experience in a multi-disciplined, production and/or manufacturing environment, answering technical queries and non-conformance reports. Experience performing structural/stress analysis, and with product data management (PDM) tools to maintain configuration management. Working knowledge of technical office processes and standards (i.e. Engineering Governance, Business Management System (BMS) and Life Cycle Model (LCM). An awareness of security and export implications when handling technical material, and a familiarity with engineering drawing standards. Desirable: Working experience using CAD software (CREO Parametrics) and PLM software (Teamcenter). Previous production, manufacturing, machining, welding, casting, and assembly experience. Benefits:

The Weapon Systems UK Mechanical Engineering team:

As the Technical Lead reporting to the Head of Engineering Delivery you will have direct reports and be responsible for leading a team of Mechanical Engineers, working closely with the Operations, Quality and Technical Data Pack (TDP) teams. As part of the Weapon Systems UK Mechanical Engineering team, you may also be involved in supporting technical changes to our existing product portfolio (i.e. M777 towed howitzer, 4.5” MK.8 MOD 1 Naval Gun, AS90 Self Propelled Howitzer & 105 Light Gun) through analysis, concept design and tests and trials. This role also allows you to put forward your innovative ideas and solutions to the next generation of weapon platforms for the future battle space. Why BAE Systems?
