A Technical Lead (Production and Manufacturing) is required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems Company that is expanding their team. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available for this position, and expenses will be paid for inter-site travel. The salary and seniority for this Technical Lead opportunity will depend on your skills and experience. The Technical Lead will be part of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing team and will lead a team of 4 - 6 direct reports, supporting technical changes to existing company products (i.e., Defence and Weapons Systems). The Technical Lead will be the first point of contact for the customer and will have the opportunity to shape the next generation of defence/weapons platforms and future technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Technical Lead (Production and Manufacturing)

Lead and manage a small team of Mechanical Engineers overseeing engineering resource & tasks. Assign packages of work to individuals and support their development through objectives setting and Personal Development Reviews. Provide Engineering support throughout the installation and commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in the UK. Oversee and approve the generation of design and/or manufacturing drawings and provide and/or approve calculations and analysis as required to justify a proposed course of action. Plan and manage assigned budgets and control ongoing engineering processes and activities to ensure delivery to agreed business needs. Participate fully in cross-functional projects/investigations ensuring requirements are delivered to plan. Develop, maintain, and control the technical interface to customers, suppliers, and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues and to deliver contractual commitments.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the Technical Lead

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or experience within engineering. Experience in engineering mentoring, leadership, and management. Experience within and leading design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications. Design experience in a multi-disciplined, production and/or manufacturing environment. Ability to answer technical queries and non-conformance reports. Experience performing structural/stress analysis, and with product data management (PDM) tools to maintain configuration management. Working knowledge of technical office processes and standards (i.e., Engineering Governance, Business Management System, and the Engineering Life Cycle). An awareness of security and export implications when handling technical material, and familiarity with engineering drawing standards. Ideally working experience using CAD software (CREO) and PLM software (Teamcenter). Ideally some production, manufacturing, machining, welding/casting, and/or assembly experience.
