Red Bear Software Limited is privately owned by its management and staff and was established in 2018. We are a fast-growing and profitable specialist software as a service company based in Wigan. Our first generation of products focuses on the UK Energy industry, and the company is presently investing in diversifying our product portfolio into other verticals.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tech Lead to join one of our product development teams. Working closely with the Product Owner and Solution Architect, you will contribute to the refinement of requirements and evolution of the architectural designs. Your main responsibility will be on leading the development team in the maintenance of scalable, secure, and robust solutions using .NET technologies and Azure.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about technology and has a burning interest in continually learning and improving their professional technical skills. You will have an interest in the automation and standardisation of the entire delivery process through platform engineering. We are growing fast and operate in an environment of constant change. As such, versatility and a can-do attitude are essential.

Our back-end APIs are written in C# in .NET 8 as microservices hosted in Azure, using a wide range of the Azure stack, including Azure SQL, CosmosDb, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Redis Cache, Azure Functions, Docker, and Azure Kubernetes Services. Our front-end UIs are written using Vue JS. The DevOps lifecycle is managed through Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and backlog prioritisation. We are also increasingly using Python for data-related scenarios.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Take ownership of and responsibility for the quality and correctness of implemented solutions.

Lead the development team through guidance, mentorship, and instruction.

Be actively involved in the full stack implementation to maintain understanding of solutions.

Ensure solutions adhere to acceptance criteria through comprehensive automated testing.

Set standards, evolve the delivery processes and disciplines, and be prepared to challenge existing ways of working.

Accountable to the Development Manager.

Work with our Operations Manager, Solution Architect, Product Owners, Industry Experts, and Testers.

Wrangling data - including SQL and No-SQL databases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 8 years' experience in C# development and ASP.NET (REST Web APIs).

Minimum of 3 years’ experience of leading development teams.

Strong experience in working with Azure services, including Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Azure Kubernetes Services, Event Hubs, Service Bus, and Blob Storage.

Strong command of querying a range of RDBMS and No-SQL database platforms and the ability to extrapolate to platforms with which you might be less familiar.
