Theatre / Stage Technical Manager

who has a full understanding around the whole operation of technical tools, software and requirements such as stage lighting, rigging, sound and AV for various theatre productions, comedy shows and live music events. The Theatre is currently closed and undergoing major improvement works funded by the Government’s Levelling Up Fund and is scheduled to re-open in Summer 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for a Theatre / Stage Technical Manager who needs to be in place ready for when the theatre re-opens the doors to showcase the fabulous new look. We will need the successful candidate to take full responsibility for providing and ensuring that all technical requirements are met in a safe and professional manner. As a successful candidate you will have a track record of providing exemplary technical management in similar sized venues with passion and flair, and who is determined, self-motivated, leads by example and who is well organised. Your duties as the

Theatre / Stage Technical Manager

include: Responsible for the preparation and technical aspects of events and performances; ensuring that all technical requirements are met in a safe and professional manner. Liaise with and support visiting companies including attending pre-production meetings. Responsible for providing technical support for a range of events and activities such as, pantomimes, live music, club nights, conferences, festivals, comedy, workshops etc. Participate positively in all technical work necessary for production. Recruit a team of casual technicians, lead and develop excellent communication between technical team. Create and maintain the rota for the technical team. Operate technical equipment including lighting systems, sound controls, pullies and fly trusses. Responsible for storage and maintenance of all technical equipment. Organise and partake in the get-in and get–outs; striking of technical equipment including flats, sound and rigging lighting systems, instrumentation and seating onto the main performance areas as required. Take all relevant steps to protect the health and safety and welfare of all colleagues, patrons and visitors by implementing health and safety procedures. Ensure correct fire evacuation procedures are implemented in accordance with the Theatre Licence operational at the venue. Ensure annual inspections and testing of equipment. To clean and prepare the staging area. Create risk assessments and method statements and follow existing and approved assessments and method statements. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications/Membership of Professional Institution NVQ technical stage level 2 or equivalent. Full understanding around the whole operation of technical tools, software and the requirements of various theatre productions, comedy, and live music. Work within a theatre or entertainment environment within the technical unit. Technical stage skills (lighting, sound and AV). Technical skills including rigging, scenic construction, facilities management. Good written and verbal communication. Highly organised, with good time management skills. Be creative and flexible in approach to working issues. Work to tight deadlines and under pressure and within artistic confines. Up to date knowledge of technical procedures and technology. Proven track record of managing and delivery commercial and mid-scale productions. Ability to work unsupervised and show initiative to overcome day to day problems. willingness to train others.
