Introduction: Our client is a respected leader in the fuels additive industry, scientifically developing, testing, manufacturing, and distributing products throughout the UK. Based in Shrewsbury, they now require an Assistant Technical Manager to be based on site working within the technical team. Key competencies required: Clear and professional communication skills both verbal and written. A high level of accuracy. A friendly, approachable team player with demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for the subject/business/field. Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet searches. A high degree of competence is required. Degree in a chemistry-related discipline and demonstrable practical laboratory experience. Thorough understanding of hydrocarbon liquid fuel chemistry is essential, and experience of working in the industry is preferred. Flexibility: Being a relatively small company, we all often have to adapt to changing circumstances and sometimes stand in for one another. An unfettered work ethic is expected and encouraged. The role requires the individual to work independently with a high level of self-motivation and self-discipline, and commitment to carry out the key responsibilities. Guidance and overall goals, objectives, and strategies will be provided by the Board, but the successful individual will be largely responsible for his/her own day-to-day agenda. Review of the activities will take place on a regular basis with one or more Board members, and a formal monthly review meeting with the Board will be scheduled. Key responsibilities: Manage the product portfolio. Develop products based on industry, business, and customer needs. Develop and maintain relationships with raw material suppliers. Support the sales team with all technical matters. Provide technical support for production. Provide technical support to customers and offer a combination of products to meet their needs. Lead the fuel testing service: Oversee technical requests and guide testing; Check and complete conclusions and advice of test reports; Manage laboratory staff. Train staff in the technical basis of our client’s product range. Provide technical contribution and support for newsletter and industry publications. Represent the company at Energy Institute, BSI, IASH, and UKIFDA (Technical). In return, our client is offering: £50,000 - £55,000 based on experience. Company car or cash allowance. Pension scheme with employer contribution. Health insurance. Death in service provision. 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
