Job description
Want to make a positive difference to Sheffield and its residents?
Do you put people at the heart of what you do, show openness and honesty and work together to get things done?
If you answered yes to all of these, we have a fantastic, permanent opportunity as a Technical Officer working in the Waste Management Team.
This is an exciting time to be joining the waste team, with key changes to waste and recycling service changes on the horizon in line with new government legislation. This important role will allow you to apply your knowledge and skills to ensure that Sheffield residents receive high quality waste services and support the development and delivery of future service changes and improvements.
You will support the management of the 37 year Integrated Waste Management Contract with Veolia. This contract delivers waste and recycling services to all 260,000 households in the City, including waste and recycling bin collections, the provision of bring sites, five Household Waste Recycling Centres, the removal of abandoned vehicles, the provision of an Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) plus many other waste related services.
You will take a lead on the monitoring and reporting of contractor compliance, performance and customer interface. You will track legislation and support the development and delivery of local policies as well as evaluating method statements and work programmes against service specifications and agreed outcomes.
You will have a proven track record in developing and implementing policies, procedures and operational plans. You will have experience of working with large datasets, and experience of managing people.
Are you ready to join our waste management team that is dedicated to delivering Sheffield’s key ambitions? If you are, we want to hear from you.
