DESCRIPTION

Vacancy: Commercial Field Technical Meter Operative

We are looking for a Commercial Field Technical Meter Operative to provide day to day technical operational support for a field team of Consumer Meter Operatives. Working alongside the Field Team Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting with coaching of the Commercial Meter Operatives to optimise the performance of the team to ensure safe delivery of all business objectives as well provide any contract specific technical support.


You’ll make a difference by:

  • Follow personally, and assist management in complying with, Health & Safety laws and the aims of the Health & Safety policy
  • Participate in meetings and projects/working groups as required by the role and continuously analyses for ways to improve field delivery via coaching and upskill of meter operatives
  • Communicate with contractors, customers and agents for installation and site support Carry out unplanned/emergency work as required
  • Investigate nonconformities found on audits and assist manager with any investigations
  • Carry out meter accuracy testing on metering equipment, COP4, including the installation of check meters as appropriate
  • Undertake complex meter changes including carry out associated alterations to the customer's wiring within procedural tolerance
  • Accompanying OFGEM meter examiner as necessary
  • Surveys meter positions and report findings along with proposals to complete work
  • Cascades information to the team and acts as the first point of contact for field issue resolution Carry out in-depth quality audits on Meter Operatives as part of yearly assessment program
  • Ensure operatives vans are kept to a working standard, internally and externally Carry out both HSE and Technical WIP/PC Audits
  • Provide delegate cover for Field Team Manger during absences


You’ll build on your existing expertise including:


  • Experience on LV/HV CT metering
  • Experienced in problem solving and using technical knowledge to resolve complex site faults Excellent interpersonal skills, can provide remote 1st line support via the telephone and explain complex technical issues to other team members and trainees
  • Experience in reading and interpreting numerical data quickly and accurately Understanding of the industry codes of practices, policies and procedures, including safety
  • requirements, which are relevant to Commercial Meter Operations and the ability to effectively communicate these to the staff
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • Understanding of use of Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, Outlook E-mail Good organisational, communication and negotiation skills
