Main purpose of the job: Define, Develop & Deploy Engineering processes and documents. Lead Failure Mode Avoidance Lifecycle to drive continuous improvement in Engineering. Moderate Program FMEA's to ensure Quality of event, maturation & output. Main objectives and results: Lead FMA lifecycle, ensuring Engineering LL reviews are completed, items captured, and output documents are generated. Support with foundation F-DFMEA development & continuous improvement. Lead rollout of DFMEA software (APIS) AIAG/VDA, ensure the team is equipped with the tools and training to operate inside APIS and deliver DFMEA's to the new standard. Provides internal audit to IATF 16949 for Engineering Systems/Processes. Empowered to review and make recommendations to Engineering Manager(s) on deviation requests from Design Rules and Best Practice. Participate in customer reviews, when appropriate, to provide technical governance and consultation on origin of lessons learned, best practice, etc. Ensure effective networking of subject matter experts to support application teams. Develops and maintains Technical Quality Systems & procedures. Devises internal audit plan to check integrity of Engineering documentation. Participate in and signatory for Design Reviews, Product Reviews, Gateway Reviews. Evaluates deviations from the standard, assesses risk, promotes corrective actions, keeps documented evidence for review with Engineering Management. Provide guidance on technical delivery of APQP/PPAP. Actively participate in reviews of new Engineering processes/tools that impact quality of technical delivery; including, but not limited to, development of customised detection methods where conventional design controls are insufficient. Support the identification of the most appropriate and cost-effective technical solutions. Support Current Model team when appropriate. Support/consults on new program RFQ's. Preferred skills and experience: Proven substantial experience in automotive product engineering department. Bachelor and/or Diploma degree in automotive, plastics engineering, mechanical engineering or experience in automotive engineering department. Knowledge of customer requirements and Interiors product and manufacturing/assembly processes. FMEA training (preferably VDA/AIAG combined), 5+ years active use. IQ-RM Software Knowledge. Six Sigma Green Belt, preferred. Audits - ISO19011 training or proven experience in automotive production sector (IATF16949, VDA6.1). Cradle-to-grave project experience including design development, process and tool maturation, validation, and program launch. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Driven, conscientious, inquisitive, and practical. Managerial, technical & administrative skills required - Should be fully conversant with automotive quality tools and systems; these should include TS16949, QS9000, ISO14001, supported by excellent organisational and communicational skills.
