Job ID: 2682884 | Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM), to join the Region Services organization and serve as a technical resource and to take the lead solving some of the toughest operational challenges in some of the most sensitive and mission-critical clouds. The TPM will be responsible for driving large-scale global projects and initiatives, leading cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new workflow features and tools that enhance productivity, open capacity at a faster rate, and secure devices to AWS standards. We are looking for a passionate, deeply technical, and results-oriented Technical Program Manager (TPM) to define and drive Region Services initiatives. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with a multi-year roadmap, using Agile and incremental delivery methods. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Service Teams, Security, Infrastructure, and Business Development to design and deliver new AWS regions. You will work with all stakeholders to develop schedules that ensure timely launch of new regions. You will assess risks, anticipate issues, overcome technical obstacles, make difficult trade-off decisions, and balance business needs and technical constraints. Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail-oriented, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You will have a deep understanding of distributed system design and delivery. You will successfully represent program status to senior leadership. Your program management expertise and operational excellence will influence the team’s decisions and drive secure and scalable solutions. You should be passionate about delivering great customer experiences and researching and developing new region build methodologies. Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see

Our Technical Program Managers are individuals who demonstrate initiative and proactively seek solutions to problems: Demonstrate ownership to improve the safety, security, and availability of our data center operations. Mentor, train, and develop career progression for indirect reports and members of the organization (Technicians and Technical Program Managers). Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective. Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally. A Day in the Life

Our Technical Program Managers have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of knowledge: You will gather business requirements, document functional and design specifications, define User Acceptance Criteria for testing software, ensure systems capture applicable data to enable the customer to measure how effective their processes and leveraged software are from a day-to-day basis, identify and assemble the appropriate resources for each project, assign individual responsibilities, and develop the milestones and launch schedule to ensure timely and successful delivery of the project. You will contribute with cross-functional business and technical skills, assess and manage risks, measure and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs with the technical constraints. You rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables. You will manage repair requests in a high-volume environment, as well as managing response to high severity events. You will present to Sr. Leadership on a regular basis, demonstrating the ability to synthesize the problems and the solutions into a simple and consumable manner. You will be responsible for data collection, analytics, and dashboard creation as a way to help others recognize the best path to make the business better. Expect to travel globally where and when needed to manage and/or support initiatives of the teams you will support. About the Team
