The role:

Join the Bournemouth International Centre and Pavilion Theatre’s technical stage team as a Technical Supervisor. This role expands our in-house technical team, responsible for delivering top-tier lighting, sound, AV, stage management, and client services for banquets, entertainments, and conferences. With over 400 events annually, our team covers a diverse range, from live music tours and West-end musicals to opera, conferences, and in-house productions. Located in beautiful Bournemouth on the South coast, surrounded by stunning beaches and a vibrant town with shops, eateries, and attractions, this position offers a varied schedule across two buildings with six venues, including an arena, art-deco ballroom, and a 1500-seater proscenium theatre. This dynamic role combines people management skills with creativity and customer service, focusing on the successful delivery of events. The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day event operations, from setup to completion, actively managing teams, handling logistics, and ensuring events meet high expectations. It’s an ideal role for someone passionate about fostering team development, enjoys developing infrastructures, and making things their own. Applicants must possess advanced knowledge of lighting and sound, an interest in AV, and excellent people skills to lead our experienced technical staff. The successful candidate will have previous experience in both entertainment settings and conferencing environments. You will:

Serve as the main point of contact for incoming productions/events. Oversee and actively participate in the load-in, setup, design, operation, and pack-down of events. Supervise and operate lighting, sound, AV, fly systems, and other components of live events. Plan, maintain and enhance technical infrastructures, equipment, and services. Attend meetings, site visits, rehearsals, and production meetings as required. Champion health and safety practices, ensuring adherence to best practices and managing relevant paperwork. Organise and provide necessary training for both full-time and part-time staff. Act as a deputy for the Technical Manager in various aspects of their role during their absence. Manage and provide leadership to Senior Technicians and Technicians. Undertake any other duties within the general scope and grade of the post as required. You will need:

Similar experience in a previous role including supervision of colleagues. To be comfortable and able to work at heights, undertake manual handling and heavy lifting safely. A forklift truck driving license or be able to achieve this on joining us. To be available and able to work unsociable hours including weekends, bank holidays, and evenings. We offer:
