Temporary Archivist in Manchester or Cardiff
A public sector organisation has an urgent temporary requirement for an Archivist and a Records Manager, to be based at their offices in either Cardiff or Manchester. The Archivist and Records Manager will both be involved in a project to appraise a significant number of records of three legacy organisations that are over 20 years old. You will package, prepare, catalogue, and arrange these for transfer to the National Archives. Potential locations are either Cardiff or Manchester for both positions. You must have the right to work full-time in the UK and be available at short notice to work onsite in Cardiff or Manchester until the end of March. This role would suit a qualified Archivist with experience in appraisal work. Any exposure to TNA archives requirements and standards would be a real bonus. This is a hands-on appraisal, cataloguing, and packaging role. The Records Manager contract would also suit an experienced Records Manager who has been involved in appraisal work, preferably with experience in retention schedules, and FOI work would also be of interest. Both the Records Management and Archives temporary contracts are available once clearances are completed, until the end of March 2025.
